The Oregon lacrosse team put up a strong fight against No. 18 Stanford at Pape Field on Sunday afternoon by outscoring the Cardinal 7-6 on a 6-0 run in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Ducks ultimately fell to the Cardinal, 18-12. Senior Shannon Williams, sophomore Lillian Stump and freshman Jamie Level each scored three goals against Stanford to earn hat tricks. How It Happened: Stanford registered 12 goals in the first half, while four different Ducks combined for five goals. Williams recorded two goals and assisted sophomore attacker Emily Munro for a goal. Sophomore attacker Marlee Moon Gaddy and Stump added one goal each in the first period. Stanford had a 12-5 advantage headed into intermission. The Cardinal tallied four goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half, while Stump scored her second goal. The Ducks followed with a 6-0 run over the next 16 minutes to close the gap to 16-12. Level scored her first goal to begin the Ducks game-changing run, followed by a hat-trick goal from Stump and a goal from freshman midfielder Sydney Lawrence. Williams added another goal for the Ducks, while Level closed out the run with back-to-back goals. Stanford scored twice more to bring the final score to 18-12. Notable: Williams tallied six points on three goals and three assists… Williams recorded her seventh hat trick of the season and the 29th hat trick of her career… Level registered her third hat trick of the season… Stump acquired the second hat trick of her career… Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Hall put up 15 saves and five ground balls. Quotable: Head Coach Chelsea Gamble On Oregon's second half comeback: "I wish we had five more minutes in the game honestly. I feel like we really started to get in our element and didn't give up towards the end. Stanford is a really good team. I think that if we had a couple more minutes, we would've come away with a better feeling headed into the Colorado game and Pac-12 Tournament. Senior Attacker Shannon Williams On Oregon's performance against Stanford: "I think it was a really good team effort today. We came off Friday with our first Pac-12 win, and came out here and played for each other today. We played for Oregon. I think it was a good fight, but there's definitely things we can improve on. I really proud of the effort everyone gave today." Up Next: The Ducks close out the regular season against No. 22 Colorado at Pape Field on Friday, April 19, at 7:00 p.m.
