The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team fell to East Carolina on Sunday afternoon, 19-9. The Pirates' Nicole LeGar led all scorers with six points on four goals and two assists. Freshman Abby Edmisten and sophomore Alyssa Cooke both scored two goals and one assist to lead the Blue Hose. Final Score: Presbyterian 9 - East Carolina 19 Location: Bailey Memorial Stadium (Clinton, S.C.) Records: PC (1-1), ECU (1-1) Scoring the Game East Carolina jumped out to a 9-0 lead with 7:57 remaining in the first half. Cooke scored her first of the game with 7:28 left in the first half to make it a 9-1 deficit. The teams would trade goals headed into halftime, with Cooke and Edmisten each scoring for PC, when the Pirates' held an 11-3 edge. Presbyterian cut into the lead a few times in the early minutes of the second half with a goal from Kelly Hyman (24:31) and two goals from Madison Berg (22:30 and 21:15).The Pirates rattled off three unanswered goals twice in the final 20 minutes of the game to quell any PC rally and held on to win 19-9. By the Numbers - East Carolina led in shots, 40-25, ground balls, 18-11, and draw controls, 18-11. - The Blue Hose were successful on 12-of-16 clears, while the Pirates successfully cleared 15-of-18 attempts. Notables - Sarah Marshall extended her goal streak (12 games) and point streak (17 games) with an unassisted goal at 2:09 in the second half. Up Next Presbyterian remains at home as they host Akron on Friday, February 14, in a 7 pm game at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
