EUGENE, Ore.- Despite hat tricks from senior Shannon Williams and freshman Carlie Leach, the Oregon women's lacrosse team couldn't hold on to Arizona State, falling 18-10, in its Pac-12 home opener at Pape Field on Friday night. Williams' six-point game, consisting of four goals and two assists, was enough to tie Oregon's program record for career goals. Williams joins Jana Drummond (2009-12) as the only other Duck in school history to score 146 career goals. Earlier this season, Williams became Oregon's all-time points leader with 229 career points. How It Happened: Three Ducks scored in the first half. Arizona State opened on a 6-0 run, before Williams put Oregon on the board with back-to-back goals. Leach followed with a goal off a free position shot. Sophomore attacker Lillian Stump registered her sixth goal of the season to end the first half for the Ducks. Oregon trailed Arizona State, 14-4 headed into intermission. The Ducks outscored the Sun Devils with six goals in the second half, while they held Arizona State to just four goals. Stump opened up the second half with another goal off an assist from Williams. Leach scored twice more in the game for her fourth hat trick of the season. Junior attacker Lindsey White ended the game with a goal off an assist from midfielder Jamie Level to put the final score at 18-10, as the Sun Devils took the win. Notables: Oregon won the draw control battle, 18-12… Williams' has scored five or more points in seven of eight games this season… Williams' four goals marked the 27th hat trick of her career… Freshmen Logan Gierke and Lily Shalz combined for 11 draw controls, with Gierke registering six and Shalz recording five. Up Next: The Ducks host No. 22 USC at Pape Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
