LOS ANGELES – The 16th-ranked USC lacrosse team (14-3, 9-1 Pac-12) secured the Pac-12 regular-season title and the top seed in the upcoming Pac-12 tournament with a 16-10 victory over Arizona State (6-11, 2-8) for Senior Day on Saturday, April 20, at McAlister Field. KEY PLAYERS The Women of Troy honored senior attackers Amanda Flayhan, Gabbi Klein, and Emily Concialdi; and senior defender Jackie Gilbert in pre-game ceremonies. All four senior players started their final regular-season home game. Gilbert dominated the center circle to set a new school record with 17 draw controls and added three ground balls. Concialdi scored three goals for her fourth hat trick of the season (seventh of her career). Klein scored a goal and dished out a pair of assists while Flayhan scored one and had the assist on Klein's goal. Junior midfielder Kerrigan Miller scored four goals (all from free position) to record her 14th-career hat trick. Miller also caused three turnovers and had two ground balls with one draw control. Junior attacker Izzy McMahon had three goals for her fourth hat trick of the season (eighth of her career). Sophomore netminder Riley Hertford put up seven saves to get the win and had three ground balls. For the Sun Devils, Kaylon Buckner scored four goals and had an assist to go with three draw controls. Berkeley Bonneau had 15 saves and seven ground balls in the loss. Cabrini Class picked up five ground balls. HOW IT HAPPENED Arizona State scored the game's first goal and kept the Trojans scoreless for nearly 10 minutes before freshman Katie Ramsay scored from free position to open up a 3-0 run capped by Concialdi and Miller. ASU scored again at 18:03 but McMahon's goal set off a 5-0 run to give the Trojans a commanding 8-2 lead. The Sun Devils stemmed the tide with a goal from Paige McGlothin at 9:20 in the first half, but the Trojans went through a 5-1 burst to close the half with a nine-goal lead, 13-4. The Trojans cranked up the running clock on McMahon's third goal at 28:16 in the second half, but the Devils stopped it on a goal by Carley Adams. Sophomore Emily Stallings scored for a 15-5 lead, but ASU went on a 3-0 run with two goals by Buckner to keep the clock stopped at 14:18. Junior attacker Sarah Larkin scored the 16th USC goal before Buckner and Kerri Clayton added goals for the Devils to make the final score, 16-10. UP NEXT The Trojans secured the top seed in the upcoming Pac-12 tournament and will have a first-round bye. USC will meet the winner between fifth-seeded Arizona State and fourth-seeded California (6-11, 3-7 Pac-12) in the first semifinal game on Friday (April 26) at 4:30 p.m. PT on Papé Field in Eugene, Ore. Should the Trojans win their semifinal matchup, they would advance to the championship game set for 1 p.m. PT on Sunday (April 28). GAME NOTES USC improved to 5-0 all-time against Arizona State. The Trojans improved to 42-11 at McAlister Field and to 46-13 all-time in home games. USC secured its first-ever Pac-12 regular-season title. It is the third regular-season league championship for the Trojans, who won MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) crowns in 2016 and 2017.
