The University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team graced Franklin Field for the first time in 2020 with a 15-12 victory over Johns Hopkins. The oldest active stadium in collegiate athletics continues to etch history into its walls, with senior Gabby Rosenzweig setting the program record with 238 career points following a one goal, four assist performance. NOTES *Rosenzweig provided four assists and a goal to claim the program record with 238 points. She dethrones Sharon Marcantonio, who set the record between 1980-83. *Rosenzweig is also on the doorstep of another career record. With four assists on the day and nine on the season, she is just two shy of tying the career record of 112, set by Nina Corcoran (2013-16). *Rosenzweig currently leads the team with 13 points from four goals and nine assists. *After her first collegiate goal against No. 19 Georgetown last weekend, freshman Caitlin Cook went on a tear to lead the team with four goals today. Her first goal of the day gave Penn a 3-2 lead, a lead which it wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the game. *Penn's leading scorer Erin Barry tallied a pair of goals today, including the goal on Rosenzweig's record-breaking assist. She now has six goals on the season. *Junior Zoe Belodeau netted a hat trick today. She now has five goals and two assists on the season. *Taylyn Stadler opened her 2020 goalscoring account with a hat trick of her own. *Freshman Hayley Hunter scored her first collegiate goal this afternoon, capping off a 6-0 run for the Quakers which put them up 7-2 in the first half. *Chelsea Kibler dominated on draw controls, winning 10 of Penn's 17. *Kelly van Hoesen made her first collegiate appearance between the pipes today, replacing Krissy Kowalski late in the game. The freshman kept her net clean and made one save. *Liv Smith led the Quakers in defense, collecting three ground balls. HOW IT HAPPENED Belodeau put the Quakers on the board early with a shot hard and high past the keeper just three minutes into the game. Hopkins would respond with a pair to take a 2-1 lead, but the lead would be the visitors last. The Quakers punched back, scoring the next six to take a commanding, 7-2 lead. The run came from all over the roster, with four Penn players chipping in with a goal. Caitlin Cook and Taylyn Stadler contributed a pair while Belodeau and Hunter capped it off.
