The Kent State women's lacrosse team (0-3) concluded its season-opening road trip with a 15-7 loss to St. Bonaventure (3-0) on Friday afternoon at Marra Athletics Complex. The Flashes jumped out to a 1-0 lead for the second time in three games this season when freshman Morgan Kubicki fired her first career goal less than two minutes in. The Bonnies scored the next three before freshman Kenzie Sklar recorded her second goal of the season. Megan Kozar scored her second of the season late in the opening half, but the Flashes trailed the Bonnies 7-3 at the break. Meghan Cawood scored her second goal of the season midway through the second half and Kozar added three second-half goals, but the Flashes couldn't keep up with the Bonnies' balanced attack. Cawood controlled five draws in the game, while Abby Jones controlled four. The Flashes fought hard and the stats were nearly even other than the scoreboard. The two teams each controlled 12 draws and Kent State won the ground ball battle 23-22 and both teams caused 12 turnovers. Four different Golden Flashes caused two turnovers. Nine different Bonnies scored a goal in the game, led by Courtney Fox (3g) and Nora Anderson (2g, 2a). St. Bonaventure put 32 shots on goal in the game. The Golden Flashes open a four-game homestand next Friday, Feb. 28 against Butler at Dix Stadium at 3 p.m. They will then take on Cincinnati in the rescheduled home opener on March 8, followed by Saint Francis (Pa.) on March 10 and Central Michigan on March 13.
