Sophomore Olivia Cunningham netted five goals and an assist for a game-high six points, but a five-goal run from Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon was the difference in a 12-9 defeat at Fisher Stadium. The loss drops the Maroon and White to 4-2 on the season with one non-league game remaining before Patriot League action. The Mountaineers improve to 5-1 on the 2020 campaign with the win. Cunningham has had an excellent week offensively for Lafayette, tallying her second-straight six-point outing on Saturday after recording four goals and two assists in the win over Manhattan on Wednesday. Three of her five goals came in the second frame as the Leopards tried to swing momentum their way, but the visitors triumphed in the end. The first half was dead even as neither team could get the upper hand with a 6-6 deadlock at the break. The Leopards were the first to score back-to-back goals, both from Cunningham, in the first six minutes of the second stanza, but the next 11 belonged to Mount St. Mary's as five-straight goals put the game in its control. Four other Leopards registered a goal on the evening with junior Anna Stein the only other multi-point performer with a goal and an assist. Senior Ally Hickey notched a pair of caused turnovers and a team-high four draw controls through the midfield, while classmate and captain Kylie Young also caused a pair of giveaways. Between the pipes, junior Quinn Lacy made seven saves for just her second loss of the season. On the other side, Jenna Oler stopped eight shots with nine goals allowed for her fifth win of 2020. Lafayette led in shots, 24-22, and ground balls, 19-16, forcing 16 turnovers while committing 14. The visitors held the edge at the circle though, winning 13 of the game's 23 draws. Next up for the Leopards is a short trip to Rutgers on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tilt with the Scarlet Knights.
