University of Louisville women's lacrosse jumped out to a 7-0 lead and cruised to a 17-7 win over Longwood on Tuesday afternoon at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. With the win, Louisville improves to 4-3, while Longwood drops to 2-4. "We went with a balanced lineup today and had 11 different players score goals, which is great to see," said head coach Scott Teeter. "We have a lot of people that can put the ball in the back of the net, but there's only one ball out there. I thought we did an excellent job of sharing the ball and distributing it today." Caroline Blalock got the Cardinals on the board just a little over a minute into the game and seven different players scored in the first 16 minutes to put Louisville ahead 7-0. The Lancers then scored three straight goals before Maddie Birch scored her first goal of the season and Hannah Morris scored her second of the game to put Louisville ahead 9-3 at the break. Nearly seven minutes into the second half, Nicole Perroni scored her first goal of the game to make it 10-3. Longwood then reeled off two straight goals to pull within two, but did not get any close as Louisville rolled to a 17-7 win. Morris finished with a team-high four goals on five shots. Belle Dora finished with three goals, while Caroline Blalock added two and eight players scored a goal. Louisville controlled the game throughout and outshot the Lancers, 35-13. The Cardinals return to action on Thursday night at 7 p.m. when they play at No. 1 North Carolina.
