ADRIAN, Mich. -- A quick turnaround for the Adrian College men's lacrosse team as they resumed action on Saturday after one day of rest. It was a cold one as the feel like temperature hovered around zero degrees. That didn't effect the Bulldogs as they took down the Chatham University Cougars by a score of 16-10. Chatham got on the board first in the opening quarter with a goal with just over two minutes played. Brandon Hoerauf responded to put Adrian on the board and tie the game 1-1. Chatham went up 2-1, but Adrian picked up a pair of goals before the quarter ended. Michael Jonas and Travis Fox netted first quarter goals to lead 3-2 after 15 minutes of play. To open the second quarter, Cameron Reed scored an unassisted goal to make it a 4-2 game in favor of the Bulldogs. Chatham went on to score back-to-back goals to make it a 4-4 game. The Bulldogs took the lead again after a goal from Peyton Gasche to lead 5-4. Chatham took advantage of an Adrian penalty and scored a man-up goal to tie the game 5-5. The Bulldogs went on to score three unanswered goals to end the half. Gasche, Chris French, and Hoerauf contributed to the scoring to put Adrian up 8-5 at halftime. To open the second half, face off man Max Leventis won the face off and ran it up field for a goal to extend the lead. French, Jonas, and Gasche all scored again to give Adrian a 12-5 lead and total seven unanswered goals. Chatham responded and went on a 4-0 run including three quick fourth quarter goals to make it 12-9. Jonas and French netted back-to-back man-up goals to put Adrian up five at 14-9. Trenton Garcia added a goal in the fourth to extend the lead which was followed by Gasche's fourth goal of the game to lead 16-9. With a minute to play in the game, Chatham scored to make it 16-10, but that wasn't enough as Adrian came away with the victory. Gasche led the team in scoring with four goals while French and Jonas recorded six points each on the day with three goals and three assists. Sam Spangler moved to 4-1 on the season with another win after stopping nine shots on goal for Adrian. The Bulldogs return to competition on the road on Wednesday, March 16 where they take on Kenyon College to begin a three-game road trip. Wednesday's game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM in Gambier, Ohio.
