The No. 14 Lindenwood men's lacrosse team was defeated by the No. 9 UIndy Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. With the loss, the Lions see their record move to 7-3 on the season, with each loss coming to nationally-ranked opponents. GAME OVERVIEW The visiting Greyhounds scored in a hurry on Saturday afternoon, finding the back of the net just 40 seconds into the game. UIndy scored again at the 5:47 mark of the first quarter to build a 2-0 advantage. Just nine seconds after their second goal, the Greyhounds scored once again to take a 3-0 lead. However, Lindenwood was undeterred, and rallied with three straight goals to close out the quarter. Colin Domek scored the first goal of the game for the Lions at the 4:49 mark of the opening quarter. Lindenwood's second goal of the contest came as Carter Collins scored with just 18 seconds left in the in the period. Collins then assisted Leonard Jones 10 seconds later, as Jones evened the game at 3-3 with eight second showing on the clock. UIndy took control of the game in the second quarter, scoring three straight goals, as it reestablished a three-goal lead. Domek cut the Lindenwood deficit to just two goals, scoring with just 36 seconds on the clock. The Lions trailed the Greyhounds 6-4 at halftime. Garrett Brunsvold opened the second-half scoring with an unassisted goal at the 9:31 mark of the third quarter. Brunsvold's goal cut the UIndy lead to 6-5. The Greyhounds scored the next five goals of the game, stretching into the fourth quarter, and took a commanding 11-5 lead over the Lions. Jones did score an unassisted goal with just over seven minutes remaining in the game, but Lindenwood was unable to get any closer, as the Lions fell by a final score of 11-6. INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - Domek and Jones each had two goals apiece for the Lions. - Collins also finished the afternoon with two points, including one goal. - Landon Schuster made 12 saves in goal for Lindenwood, his third game this season with double-digit saves. - Schuster made five first-quarter saves, helping to keep the Lions in the game early. - Alex Eubank anchored the Lindenwood defense with three caused turnovers, tied for the team-high with Collins. - Collins scooped a team-leading six ground balls, while Bryan Bevelhimer added four. - Lindenwood struggled in the faceoff circle, dropping 18 of the 21 draws.
