PITTSBURGH - Taking the field for the first time in 370 days, Duquesne picked up right where it left off with a 22-6 victory over visiting Kent State on Tuesday at Arthur J. Rooney Field. The contest marked the first game for the Dukes since a 25-2 triumph over Akron on March 7, 2020. Rilee Bradshaw led four Duquesne hat trick scorers with six goals on the day. Michaela Connolly recorded a game-high eight points with five goals and three assists while Maddie Hart found the back of the net three times to go with four assists. Jillian Caroselli scored a career-high three goals and Carlee Braverman registered a pair of goals for the Dukes. Two Duquesne players achieved major milestones in the win, as Bradshaw notched her 100th career point with her first goal of the day while Hart netted her 100th career goal on her second score at the 14:40 mark of the first half. Bradshaw got the Dukes on the board two and a half minutes into the contest before the Golden Flashes responded with a goal by Madison Rapier. Duquesne then rattled off six consecutive goals, including three from Maddie Hart to put the Dukes ahead 7-1 with just over midway through the half. After Kent State found the back of the net twice, Duquesne closed the half on a 7-0 run with two goals coming from Bradshaw as the Dukes took a 14-3 halftime lead. Duquesne extended its advantage to 21-4 with a 7-1 surge to open the second half, keyed by three goals and an assist by Connolly. The Golden Flashes ended the Dukes' spurt with Rapier's second goal of the contest before Caroselli secured the hat trick off the assist by Bradshaw with just over four minutes to play. Kent State's Pilar Lewis found the back of the cage in the last minute of action for the final margin. Miranda Held and Emelie Curtis each netted their first collegiate goals for Duquesne while Emma Eberly also posted a goal for the Dukes in the victory. Curtis added an assist along with Emily O'Donnell, who dished out her first collegiate assist. Three goalkeepers saw action for the Dukes, as Mady Pierselak picked up the win making a save in 30 minutes of action. Lauren Bonino tallied four saves while Rachel O'Toole recorded a pair of saves in her collegiate debut. Hart recorded a game-high seven draw controls to go with three caused turnovers, as well. Duquesne scored 22 goals on just 32 shots, as the Dukes outshot the Golden Flashes 32-16 in the win. The Dukes held advantages of 21-16 in ground balls, 16-13 in draw controls and 6-2 in free position attempts. This marks the eighth time in the last three seasons under Corinne Desrosiers in which Duquesne has scored at least 20 goals. NEXT UP Duquesne opens Atlantic 10 play on the road on Friday, March 26 at St. Bonaventure at 2 p.m.
