Freshman Nathaniel Carter (Martinsburg, W.Va.) then finished off a fast break before Bennett split the frame off an assist from Burns to make it 3-0 with 8:05 remaining. Mercyhurst got on the scoreboard a few moments later, and then closed the margin to 3-2 with a man-up score with about four minutes left in the opening quarter. However, goals by Papa and Burns would bookend a tally by the visitors as the Blue and Gold grabbed a 5-3 advantage at the end of the first. Second Quarter The Saints doubled up the Lakers, 6-3, a few moments into the second as Walter beat the keeper off an assist from Sundown for a man-up goal with 13:25 left in the half.
