Papa then found the back of the net just over a minute later to make it 2-0 game. The Hawks cut the deficit in half, 2-1, at the 11:52-mark, but back-to-back goals from Sundown would put the Saints in front by three. Limestone then scored twice over the final 30 seconds of the period as Papa and senior Matt Hommel (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) gave Limestone a 6-1 cushion at the end of the first. Second Quarter The Blue and Gold continued to pad its lead as Sundown completed his hat trick early in the second, making it a 7-1 contest. Rockhurst answered on the other end, but two more scores from Sundown – his fourth and fifth of the afternoon – bookended a goal by Logan to spark a 5-0 run over the final 10 minutes. Papa split the frame for his third goal of the day with 2:48 remaining before Logan capped the scoring in the opening half by finishing off a feed from Sundown to give Limestone a 12-2 margin at the break. Third Quarter Limestone continued to pull away in the third as Sundown buried his sixth goal before Huyghue added his only score of the day to push the lead to 14-2 with 12:13 remaining in the third. Sundown then fired his seventh goal of the game past the keeper a few ticks later to give the Saints a commanding 15-2 lead. Fourth Quarter After surrendering a man-up goal at the end of the third, the Blue and Gold kept the Hawks off the scoreboard despite 22 shot attempts by the visitors over the last 15 minutes. Logan posted the only score of the fourth quarter, finishing off a feed from Huyghue, as Limestone pulled away for the 16-3 win.
