DOYLESTOWN, PA (April 20, 2022) – The King's College men's lacrosse team rallied in the fourth quarter, but it was too late as Delaware Valley topped the Monarchs 21-9. The Aggies got out to a fast start after a slow initial 3 minutes for both sides. Delaware Valley broke open the scoring at the 11:45 mark of the first quarter thanks to Tony Aguayo. The Aggies kept up the momentum, scoring 5 more to close out the first quarter of play with a 6-0 lead. The aggies had 6 different goal scorers in the first quarter. The Monarchs acted quickly in the second, scoring a little over a minute in as graduate student Gabe Vansuch found the back of the net. A little over 2 and a half minutes later, the Aggies answered back to regain their 6 goal lead with the score reading 7-1 at the 12:20 mark of the second quarter. Over 9 minutes went by with neither team scoring until first year Ben Spencer notched his first of the game with 2:03 left to play. That goal would be an end to the scoring in a rather uneventful quarter for both sides. The third quarter did not start well for the Monarchs as the Aggies put in 2 goals within the first minute. Delaware Valley went on to score 2 more before first year Matt Dellapi notched his first goal of his career. The Aggies closed out the third quarter with 4 more goals to take a 15-3 lead into the final quarter of play. The Monarchs started hot once again, finding the back of the net at the 13:30 mark of the final quarter thanks to a goal from senior Brendan Gambino. The Aggies answered back with 3 goals of their own to amass a 14 goal lead with the score reading 18-4. Ben Spencer earned his second of the game to break the scoring run and begin the Monarchs rampant resurgence in the fourth. Gambino rounded out his fourth quarter hat trick with his second and third goals coming just 25 seconds apart. Gabe Vansuch picked up his second goal of the game just 10 seconds later to draw the score to within 10 with the score being 18-8. The Aggies closed out their scoring with a 3 goal run in the final 3 minutes of play. Vansuch earned his hat trick with the final goal of the game with 33 seconds left to play.
