DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 23, 2019) – Powered by a game-high three goals from junior Tommy McPartland (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and senior Bobby Chillianis (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage), the No. 3 Mercy College men's lacrosse team earned a 15-6 win over ECC foe Molloy College on Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field. The Mavericks (9-0, 2-0 ECC) continue their best start in program history, while the Lions (2-5, 0-1 ECC) fall in their ECC opener. McPartland and Chillianis each added an assist and seniors Ryan MacSpadyen (Toronto, Ontario/Seneca College) and Luke Baron (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and freshman Jack Gibbons (North Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham) each scored twice. Senior Matthew DeFeo (Upper Brookville, N.Y./St. Dominic's), freshman JoJo Janavey (Shrub Oak, N.Y./Lakeland) and junior Anthony DeVito (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) also scored and sophomore Dominic Scorcia (Franklin Square, N.Y./Carey) dished out three assists. Junior Joe Cortese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) and senior Eric Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y./Nassau CC) also recorded an assist and senior Max Littleton (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) had a game-high four caused turnovers. Junior Antonio Rey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) went 12-of-20 on faceoffs and senior Ryan Gibbons (Seaford, N.Y./Dowling College) made nine saves in 55:29 minutes of action to pick up the win. Molloy was led by Anthony Teresky who had a goal and two assists. Michael Kessler made 11 saves in 53:10 minutes of action to take the loss. Mercy jumped all over the Lions in the first quarter, scoring eight consecutive goals to take an 8-0 lead after the first quarter. McPartland, Chillianis, Janavey, MacSpadyen, Gibbons and DeVito scored to make it 6-0 with five minutes remaining in the period. McPartland scored his second to make it 7-0 and Baron scored the final goal of the quarter with six seconds left to give Mercy a commanding lead after one quarter. McPartland netted his third of the game less than a minute into the second quarter to make it 9-0. Molloy finally got on the board at the 11:09 mark on a Brian Ford goal. Baron closed out the half with his second of the day to give Mercy a 10-1 lead at halftime. Molloy started the scoring in the third quarter on a Richie Polizzi Jr. goal. However, MacSpadyen, Chillianis and Gibbons scored three consecutive goals to give Mercy a 13-2 lead with eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Lions closed out the quarter with two straight goals to make it 13-4 after the third quarter. The Lions scored two goals to begin the fourth quarter, but Chillianis and DeFeo concluded the scoring for Mercy to give the Mavericks the win. Mercy held a 37-23 edge in shots and a 35-27 edge in ground balls. Head Coach Jordan Levine and the Mavericks resume action on Tuesday, March 26th when they play at Chestnut Hill at 12:30 p.m.
