–The College of Saint Rose dropped this afternoon's Northeast-10 Conference game to #7 and defending national champion Merrimack 21-9. A trio of Golden Knights had three points in the setback. Senior attack Carter Badour led Saint Rose (1-4/0-3 NE10) with three goals, while sophomore midfielder John Loughlin registered two goals and an assist.. Also, sophomore attack Jack Pemrick dished out three assists and scooped seven groundballs. Senior midfielder Nicolas Johnson, who entered the matinee third in country with 12.25 groundballs per game, went 20-for-31 on face-offs and topped all players with 13 groundballs. Two-time All-American and junior attack Charlie Bertrand led Merrimack (3-1/-10 NE10) with eight points behind seven goals and an assist. Sophomore attack Christian Thomas contributed two goals and three assists, while fellow sophomore attack Sean Black finished with two goals and two helpers. Junior goalie Nick Ponte made 16 saves to improve to 2-0 on the season. Merrimack got off to a hot start with a 6-2 lead less than nine minutes in. Saint Rose responded to make it a 7-5 affair with 12:29 left in the second period, but the visiting Warriors netted the next four goals en route to a 10-6 halftime lead. Loughlin and freshman midfielder Drew Carpino scored in the opening 3:48 of the third period to once again cut the Saint Rose deficit to two at 10-8. Merrimack then tallied the next five markers to take control. NE10 action continues on Saturday when Saint Rose travels to Waltham, Mass. to face Bentley at noon. Meanwhile, Merrimack hosts #4 Le Moyne at 1:00 pm.
