The NYIT men's lacrosse team's graduating class made its presence felt on Senior Day. After a pregame ceremony, the Bears snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 21-11 win against District of Columbia on Saturday at soggy President's Stadium. Michael Trainor scored 45 seconds into the game and NYIT never trailed en route to the victory. Fellow seniors Andrew Alban, Mike Sofia and Jason Sullivan also tallied goals. A pregame ceremony honored that quartet as well as fellow graduating student-athletes Nick DeLuca, Eddie Greco, Dan Lembo and Nicholas Nicolosi. Chris Lieze-Hammel led NYIT with four goals. Brian Jockers made 20 saves. NYIT picked up its first East Coast Conference victory of the season and remains in contention for a berth in the league's four-team postseason tournament. The Bears (3-12, 1-3 ECC) return to action Tuesday with a home game against St. Thomas Aquinas.
