Fueled by a dominant fourth quarter, the 11th-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team tallied a 14-10 win over Bentley on Wednesday afternoon. The victory moves the Setters' NE10 record to 2-2 this season. Trailing 9-8 after three quarters of action, Pace put in six of the game's final seven goals. A 3-0 run to begin the fourth quarter provided the Setters with an 11-9 lead. They would then close out regulation with another 3-0 stretch to ice the game away. The Blue and Gold's balanced attack was once again on center stage. Pace had nine different players find the back of the net, led by a hat trick from sophomore Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke). Alan Singleton (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Pierrefonds Comprehensive), Tim Cairo (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) and Blake Balcaen (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) joined in with two-goal efforts while sophomore Aidan Egazarian (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) registered a pair of assists. Graduate student, Bryce Clark (Rumson, N.J./Rums Fair-Haven Regional), also served a huge role in the Pace triumph as he finished 12-for-17 in face-offs. All in all, the Setters put together a 36-20 edge in ground balls over Bentley. Pace also earned a 26-12 advantage in shots-on-goal, forcing Bentley's goalkeeper to make 12 saves. On the defensive side of things, junior Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) earned the win in net while the Blue and Gold posted 15 caused turnovers. Up Next The Setters will return to action next Wednesday when they host seventh-ranked Adelphi at 3:30 p.m.
