NGU overcame 20 – turnovers on Saturday, storming back to send the game into overtime but the Young Harris Lions prevailed with an extra period score to take the 15 – 14 win. The Crusaders took an early lead with a pair of goals and led until the third quarter when Young Harris scored on back-to-back shots to even it at 6 – 6. A third consecutive score from the Lions would give them their first lead of the game at 7 – 6. The teams would trade punches until late in the game when Young Harris would take the biggest lead of the game for either team, going up 14 – 11 with just over two minutes left to play. NGU still had some fight left, answering with three goals in the final minute to even it at 14 – 14. Austin Dixon scored to cut the lead to two while Chris Wieckhorst took an Alex Proly Pass off of a faceoff win to make it 14 – 13. The Crusaders got the game-tying score with 36 – seconds left when Fletcher Steveson found the back of the net to tie it at 14. The Lions got one more shot with around 26 – seconds left, taking a shot in the final seconds but Braeden Dixon scored one of his 15 – saves, helping send the game to overtime. Young Harris fired the winning shot midway through the first overtime earning the faceoff win and capitalizing with the sudden death one-timer. Individual Fletcher Steveson led North Greenville with three scores and five shots. Alex Proly added a pair of scores. Jon Watson had eight grounders to lead Chris Wieckhorst added seven of his own. Next Time Out North Greenville will be back I action next weekend hosting Wingate University at 2 PM.
