Junior Ethan Carpenter (Orlando, Fla.) matched his career high with five points as Babson College rallied from a four-goal second-quarter deficit to defeat visiting Endicott College, 8-6, in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at MacDowell Field. With the win, Babson improves to 3-1 on the year, while Endicott slips to 1-2 overall. Carpenter scored once and dished out a career-high five assists, while first-year Chi Chi Price (Hingham, Mass.) produced two goals for the Beavers. Senior Matthew MacCune (Braintree, Mass.) and junior Lee Sipes (Windham, N.H.) both contributed a goal and an assist, and senior Christopher Aranalde (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) stopped a season-high 14 shots in between the pipes. Senior Thomas Calvert (Melrose, Mass.) finished with four ground balls for Babson, while junior John Antaya (Duxbury, Mass.) and sophomore Drew Thomas (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) both registered two caused turnovers. Senior Mike Sudora (Monroe, Conn.) led all player with three goals for the Gulls. Junior Andrew Fithian (Marshfield, Mass.) scooped up a game-high seven ground balls, classmate James Loughran (Cos Cob, Conn.) contributed four ground balls and three caused turnovers, and senior Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) made 15 saves in a losing effort. Seniors Will Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and John Koebel (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) gave Endicott a 2-0 lead with goals over the final five minutes of the opening period and Sudora recorded back-to-back tallies to extend the margin to 4-0 with 8:33 to go in the second. Carpenter got the Green and White on the board just over a minute later and Price and senior Owen Allen (Franklin, Mass. scored 26 seconds apart as the Beavers pulled within a goal with 3:12 to go in the period. Babson pulled even on sophomore Ryan Donovan's (Cohasset, Mass.) five and a half minutes into the third quarter, and then took the lead for good with a dominating stretch to begin the fourth. Price converted a feed from Carpenter to give the hosts their first lead with 13:49 to play, and MacCune finished off another pass by Carpenter for a 6-4 advantage just over two minutes into the stanza. Sipes scored at the 9:22 mark and MacCune hit junior John Calicchio (Gulfstream, Fla.) on the doorstep for a quick-stick finish that capped an eight-goal run and gave the Beavers an 8-4 advantage with 8:42 remaining. The Gulls turned the ball over on each of their first four fourth-quarter possessions and did not attempt a shot over the first eight-plus minutes of the period before scoring twice over the final 35 seconds for the final margin. The Green and White finished with a 38-36 edge in shots and a 33-31 advantage in ground balls. The Beavers also won three of their six face-offs in the final quarter.
