It took a while for things to get rolling for the Bard College men's lacrosse team on Wednesday night, but once they did, it was a sight to behold. After being outshot in the first quarter, and carrying a narrow 2-1 lead into the second quarter, the Raptors tied the program record for goals in game with a 20-5 rout of SUNY Cobleskill. Bard senior Corey Rich tied the program record for goals in a game with six - he had already done that once before - but he set a new program record with nine points in the game - six goals and three assists. It certainly didn't look like any records were going to fall through one quarter. The Fighting Tigers (0-2) had a decided edge in ground balls and shots, but Bard had a 2-1 lead entering the second quarter. But Bard (2-2) scored seven goals in the second quarter, including three in the span of about 80 seconds. Peter's Sojka's goal with 1.4 seconds left gave the hosts a 9-2 lead into halftime. The onslaught continued in the third quarter, as Bard pushed the lead to 14-3, and Rich scored three of Bard's six fourth-quarter goals to break the points-in-a-game record. Sojka and freshman Lukas Roscoe each finished with five goals and two assists, Chuck Reycroft had two goals and two assists, while Michael O'Donnell and Jack Kaplan scored one goal apiece. Emanuel Grenier-Benoit led the squad with seven ground balls, and Sid Subramani caused a pair of turnovers. Shots, turnovers, ground balls and clears were all about even, but Lyle Healey made 21 saves for the winners. Kieran Tierney (Marcellus, NY) had four goals for Cobleskill, and Christopher Roman (Vernon, NY) made 10 saves.
