ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season at Higgins Stadium on Tuesday evening as it used a dominant fourth quarter to pick up the 15-9 non-conference victory over Haverford College. IC controlled possession for arguably the final 10 minutes of the game as they outscored the visitors 5-1 for the comfortable win. The Bombers improved to 4-1 overall and received votes in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll that was released on Monday afternoon. Inside the Box Score Ithaca outshot the Fords in each period and by the final whistle they recorded 12 more shots than the visitors (45-33). It was an impressive afternoon for the Bombers attack with John Sramac leading all scorers with a six-point evening on four goals and two assists. Graduate student Connor Brumfield dished out three assists and netted two goals including a rip into the upper right hand corner that fired up the entire bench of the Bombers. Reigning Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week Jake Erickson netted a hat-trick and dished out an assist, which was good for four points. Drew Turner also recorded his first multi-goal scoring game of the season. The Bombers caused 17 turnovers and collected 28 ground balls with Jared Sedlock and John Sramac leading the way with four each. Eric Dalhlberg and Wyatt Feinberg scored two goals each for Haverford College (2-3) Ryan LaForty picked up his third-straight win between the pipes as he finished with 13 saves. How it Happened It was a back-and-forth first quarter with the Bombers scoring first on a nice one-two play between Connor Brumfield and John Sramac 2:44 into the period. But the Fords would equalize after IC went up including a Wyatt Feinberg effort that was scored with 39 seconds left and tied it at two goals apiece. The Bombers ripped off two unanswered goals to begin the second quarter and eventually Jae Stuhlman netted a goal on a feed from Sramac that had them up 6-3 with 6:13 remaining in the half. After an IC timeout with just under three minutes remaining, the Bombers ran a beautiful set play where Brumfield setup Jake Erickson who bested the opposing keeper and had his team up 7-4. Haverford's Wyatt Feinberg netted an unassisted effort with four seconds remaining as the visitors went into halftime trailing 7-5. Each team scored three goals apiece to setup the decisive fourth quarter with the Bombers up 10-8. Erickson netted his second goal of the game on another Brumfield assist, 43 seconds into the final period. After the Fords clawed another goal back, lightning struck twice with the Bombers scoring two goals that were just 30 seconds apart. Brumfield netted the first and Kyle Proctor followed it up with an unassisted effort of his own. IC scored the final two goals of the game to create the comfortable margin down the stretch. The Bombers will embark on their Spring Break trip where they will travel to Memphis, Tennessee and will square off against Birmingham-Southern College on Tuesday followed by Rhodes College on Thursday, March 17.
