Austin Abourjilie tallied four goals as the Greensboro College men's lacrosse team coasted past the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University Saturday 16-3. Abourjilie gave Greensboro a one-goal lead just over a minute into the contest, following an assist from Michael Meley, before Oglethorpe struck for two quick goals to take a one-goal lead of their own. However, Phillip Gerber, Spencer Kontoulas, and Gage Pearman each found the back of the net over the next five minutes to give Greensboro a 4-2 lead heading into the second period. In the second, Gerber got the scoring started in the third minute before Abourjilie found the back of the net for a second time with 10:08 on the clock. Over final 9:16 of the half, Michael Thomas and Dominic Scali both scored to give Greensboro an 8-2 halftime lead. Over the final 30 minutes of play, Greensboro outscored the Petrels 8-1 to take home the 13-goal victory. Abourjilie accounted for two of the second half goals, while Davis Miller, William Beyer, Hunter Goodale, Gage Kelly, Aaron Larios-Neubert, and Ramiro Ponce each had one goal. In addition to his four goals, Abourjilie also recorded one assist, while Miller added three helpers, along with his one goal. Thomas, Gerber, and Meley each finished with three points on the day. Christopher Stallings finished with five saves in just over 40 minutes in goal to record the victory, while Kyle Ishler tallied two saves in just over 18 minutes of action. The Pride men will return to action Wednesday evening when they travel to Ferrum College. For more information on Greensboro College men's lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
