The No. 7 Cabrini men's lacrosse team continued its roll through the inaugural season of Atlantic East Conference action with tonight's 25-2 victory over Wesley College at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Tonight's game marked the first time the Cavaliers and Wolverines have met since the 2007 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) championship game. The Blue and White (11-2, 4-0 Atlantic East) got significant contributions from up and down its line-up tonight, as the team recorded season-highs in goals (25), assists (18), ground balls (54), caused turnovers (19) and faceoff wins (23), while its 66 shots and 13 turnovers ranked among its best performances of the season. Sophomore Griffin Shira led 14 Cabrini goal scorers, with a career high six goals, while junior Tyler Moschella added career bests with four assists and five points. Senor Bill Morgan, junior Jakob Klein and sophomore Kyle Tucker notched four points each, combining for seven goals and five helpers. Senior Jordan Krug, junior Mike Gerzabek and freshman Konner Caplin added three points each. Freshman Rhys Vaughn added his first career tally, while juniors Nick LaBanca and Kevin Leyden added their first points of the campaign. The Cavaliers were equally as tough on the defensive end of the field in tonight's win, as they pressured the Wolverines into 34 turnovers and held the visitors to just 11 shots with four on target. Fourteen Cavaliers accounted for the team's 19 caused turnovers, as sophomore Joey DiAntonio caused a season best three, one more than senior Kevin Delaney, junior Kyle Myers and sophomore Nick Werner. Cabrini's dominance started at the faceoff spot, where the team won 23 of the game's 31 faceoffs. Freshman Jake Huey went 7-9 with a season best eight ground balls, while sophomore Luke McCallion won all six of his chances. Sophomores Behn Worley and Matthew Ries combined for 10 victories. Four Blue and White goaltenders manned the Cabrini crease, with junior Matt Nestler recording the team's only two saves. Freshmen Jack Guzman and Kyle Mackall-Lloyd recorded goals for Wesley (2-8, 1-2 Atlantic East), while sophomore goaltender Dylan Sicca posted 16 saves. Cabrini will step out of conference play on Saturday, as it celebrates Senior Day with a visit from Moravian College (7-5, 1-3 Landmark). Game time is slated for 1pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field. At halftime, the Cavaliers will honor its members of the Colonial States Athletic Conference 25th Anniversary Team.
