-- The Towson University men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-4 decision against 13th-ranked Georgetown University Saturday afternoon at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium. Towson (0-6) got its four goals from four different sources as Brody McLean extended his point streak to 14 straight games. Greg Ey, Jon Mazza and Andrew Milani all scored while Grant Maloof had the lone Towson assist. Georgetown (6-0) had hat tricks from Jake Carraway, Dylan Watson and Graham Bundy Jr. Carraway finished with a five-point day thanks to a pair of assists. Robert Clark added two assists as well. How it Happened The visiting Hoyas went up 6-0 with six different goal scorers. Carraway, Peter Thompson, Bundy Jr., Declan McDermott, Massimo Bucci and Watson scored in succession. Towson broke through as Ey took his defender in isolation and went right through the heart of the Hoya defense. The Tigers trailed 6-1 through 15 minutes. The Tigers opened the second quarter with McLean getting his ninth of the season after bullying his defender into the slot and zipping home Towson's second less than a minute into the fresh stanza. Georgetown scored three unanswered goals to end the first half as James Reilly scored followed by back-to-back goals from Watson. Carraway assisted on each of Watson's goals as the visitors led 9-2 at the break. The Hoyas carried the scoring run into the third quarter as McDermott scored midway through the frame. Andrew Milani notched his first career goal with 5:56 to play in the third, finishing on the doorstep with Maloof on the backend. Georgetown scored two more goals in the period from Bucci and Bundy Jr. at 2;54 and with nine seconds left. Clark assisted on the Bundy Jr. tally. Senior Jon Mazza logged his first goal in the last three games with an unassisted tally 70 seconds into the fourth quarter. The Hoyas finished the game with four unanswered from Bundy Jr., twice from Carraway and one from Sean O'Keefe on a Brandon Meaux assist. Behind the Numbers Georgetown out-shot the Tigers 44-28, including 30-14 in the first half. Towson's offense fell into a rhythm in the second half, getting off 14 shots while its defense held the Hoyas to 15. The Tigers grabbed 25 ground balls, hauling in eight during the third quarter. Georgetown collected 36 in the game, aided by a 15-24 day at the faceoff X. Towson got nine saves from two netminders; Shane Brennan started for the Tigers and made three saves before he was spelled for the final 45 minutes by Jake Stout, who stopped six Hoya attempts. Georgetown got 56 minutes of work from starter Owen McElroy, who made nine saves. Noah Klein did not see any shots on goal. Joey Chestnutt had a career day at the X for the Tigers, winning eight of his 19 draws. He picked up three ground balls along the way. Reilly carried the faceoff load for Georgetown, winning 13 of his 19 chances. The Hoyas were 23-of-23 in the clearing game while Towson struggled early, going 1-of-4 in the first half. Towson combined to go 16-of-20 in the final 30 minutes of the game. Up Next for Towson Towson returns home next Saturday for a noon game against Duke University. Game time is set for noon as the Tigers and Blue Devils square off as the Lax Sports Network Game of the Week. Duke is currently ranked 12th in the USILA Coaches' Poll and 13th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
