Junior Cole Lukasiewicz (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) scored three goals and added four assists to lead the charge, as The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team opened a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in an eventual 15-10 victory at Moravian in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday. With the victory, Scranton improved to 2-1 overall and in the Landmark, while Moravian dropped to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Landmark with the defeat. The opening frame of the contest saw Scranton come out on absolute fire offensively, as the Royals scored six unanswered goals to open the contest. In the scoring barrage, sophomore Christopher Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) scored twice, with both scores coming when the Royals had a man-up advantage. Moravian ended the scoring run with a goal late in the first to make it a 6-1 game going into the second frame, but after both teams scored four goals, apiece, in the second quarter, Scranton went into the locker room with a sizable 10-5 lead. The Royals did go into intermission with some momentum, as Crapanzano scored the final goal of the first half with 19 seconds left. The third period saw the Royals effectively put away Moravian for the afternoon, as they outscored the Greyhounds, 3-1, to take an insurmountable 13-6 lead into the fourth quarter. There, Moravian was able to outscore Scranton, 4-2, but it was too little, too late for the Greyhounds, as the Royals coasted down the stretch to take the five-goal road win. Overall, Lukasiewicz and Crapanzano (who had one assist) led the offense in the win, as each had a hat trick in the victory. For the pair, it marked the second time in three matches that each has scored three goals, apiece, in a Scranton victory, as the both accomplished the feat last week at Susquehanna. The duo also led the Royals in ground balls in the victory, with Crapanzano scooping up nine and Lukasiewicz recording six. Crapanzano was also Scranton's face-off man and won 18 out of 28 faceoffs on the afternoon, as well. Elsewhere, senior Danny Mallay (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) had his second straight two goal game, while freshman Alex Eglitis (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) also scored a pair of goals, while adding an assist. Fellow freshman Matthew McAree (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) rounded out the multiple goal scorers on the day for the Royals, tallying two. The scoring sheet was rounded out by sophomore Nick Donato (Langhrone, Pa./Neshaminy), who had one goal and one assist, along with senior Jalen Holmes (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and junior Mike Bouhall (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook), who each scored a goal and added two assists for Scranton. In net, senior Shayne Fallon (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) picked up his second win of the year in between the pipes, as he made 11 saves in 60 minutes of action. The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, hosting Elizabethtown in a key Landmark Conference match at Weiss Field. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
