Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse defeated Regis College, 7-6 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Ritchie Field. How it Happened: The Mariners struck first, when Jacob Belanger (Brunswick, Maine) tallied his second goal of the season, a man-up goal, on an assist from Zeke Tocci (Naples, Maine), but the Pride answered back early in the second quarter to make it 1-1. The teams remained deadlocked for most of the half, until Tocci tallied a man-up goal of his own with 38 seconds remaining and sent the Mariners into halftime with a slim 2-1 edge. Maine Maritime came out hot to start the third quarter, scoring three-unanswered goals in four minutes to take a 5-1 advantage. The Pride battled back with back-to-back goals to cut it to 5-3 with 3:47 to play in the third. Maine Maritime's Max Barton (Yarmouth, Maine) gave the Mariners a three-goal advantage when he sniped a groundball into net following a save from Regis' Nick Penta in the final seconds of the quarter. Ryan Richardson tallied his second goal of the game for the Pride, to open up the scoring in the fourth quarter, making it 6-4 with 10:15 to play, but Jayden Wilson (Lewiston, Maine) added a goal for the Mariners at 6:07 to keep the lead at three. Regis continued to battle and scored two goals in the final two minutes, but the Mariners secured the final faceoff and hung on for the win. Inside the Numbers: Wilson led the Mariners with two goals and assist, while Tocci ended the afternoon with a goal and an assist.
