The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on Wednesday with a 12-6 win over Elmira. A hot start set the tone for the Wildcats who scored the first four goals of the game and a 5-0 run to end the first half after taking a 9-3 lead into the half, Elmira cut the lead in half with three unanswered goals, but another trio of goals to close out the game was the nail in the coffin. Four Wildcats scored three points in the game and the Wildcat defense had a respectable 13 caused turnovers. NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: Matthew Johnson (Amsterdam, N.Y.) continued his winning ways in goal. He made five saves in the first half to improve to 3-0 this season. Shane Wyman (East Greenbush, N.Y.) had three goals in the game to surpass the 50 point mark in his career. He also had two groundballs and two caused turnovers. Edward Rosaschi (HighlandMills, N.Y.) had three points on three assists. He is second on the Wildcats with 11 points this season. Brody Guido (North Syracuse, N.Y.) also had three points on two goals and two assists. He leads the Wildcats with 15 points in 2021. Matt Fisher (Colonie, N.Y.) rounded out the three-point scorers for the Wildcats. He had a goal and a pair of assists. They were his first points as a Wildcat. A three-goal performance by Elmira's Matt Daley was the bright spot for the Eagles. Daley also had a game high five groundballs. UP NEXT: The Wildcats will host SUNY Canton on Saturday, April 10th at Wildcat Field. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start. The Roos are currently 1-1 in conference play. Limited spectators will be allowed to attend the game, and as per usual, the game will be streamed on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN).
