The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team scored 10 first-half goals and breezed to a 16-6 win against Susquehanna in its first home game of the season. On a day the Mules dedicated to HEADstrong, an organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for those affected by cancer, they were strong in every phase of the game. Muhlenberg had a whopping 65-34 advantage in shots - setting a school record for shots in a game - while forcing 23 turnovers, breaking up eight of the River Hawks' 22 clear attempts and rolling up a 42-27 edge in ground balls en route to their first win of the season. Just three days after surpassing the 200-point mark, graduate student Ethan Grossman added eight points to his school-record total, scoring three goals and setting a career high with five assists. Juniors Jack Kraemer and James Dalimonte netted four goals apiece. The Mules (1-2) led 2-1 late in the first quarter before the first goal of the season by junior Alan Stoloff kicked off a 5-1 run that included two goals by Dalimonte in a span of 1:19. After Susquehanna (2-3) scored a man-up goal with 11:47 to play in the half, cutting the gap to 7-3, Muhlenberg scored off the ensuing faceoff just 12 seconds later when sophomore Jack Quinn deposited his second goal of the season. That started a 5-0 run in which Grossman assisted on four of the goals. The Mules led by as many as 12 goals, 16-4, in the fourth quarter and were able to give playing time to most of their roster. Three players - freshmen Andrew Sellitto and Matthew Hochegger and junior Connor Marston - scored their first career goals, with Hochegger's coming just before the horn sounded ending the third quarter. Freshman Blaze Conlan recorded his first career point with an assist on Marston's goal. Junior Liam Amoruso had an outstanding game on defense, causing four turnovers and picking up three ground balls. Sophomore Matthew Regan (3 gb, 3 ct) and senior Maxwell Seeber (5 gb, 2 ct) also were big contributors to the defensive effort, while Kraemer contributed to the River Hawks' clearing woes by causing three turnovers.
