History was made on Wednesday night at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field in SUNY Poly's dominant 17-5 win over NAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill on Senior Day. SUNY Poly is now 6-0 this season with a 4-0 NAC record. They are the only undefeated team in the NAC. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: With 7:46 left in the second quarter of play, Senior Robert Pollock intercepted a pass in the Wildcats backfield and rushed into the offensive third. Upon clearing the ball up the left side of the field, Pollock found long-time teammate Edward Rosaschi open and put the ball in the stick of the most prolific scorer in the history of SUNY Poly men's lacrosse. Rosaschi took just one step and fired a beautiful shot, beating the goalie over his right shoulder. While it may have seemed like just another goal to most, for SUNY Poly lacrosse fans it will be one of the most memorable goals in the history of the program; With the Wildcats eighth goal of the game and his third, Rosaschi became the first player in the programs 13-year history to reach the century mark in goals scored. It came as no surprise to those around the program, as Rosaschi has already surpassed the records in games started, shots on goal, assists, goals, and points; but it is none the less impressive and a point of pride to finally have a 100 goal scorer grace the record books at SUNY Poly. Congratulations Eddie! THE GAME: The game was never really in doubt for the Wildcats who outscored their opponent 10-2 in the first half. The difference in the game was simply shot volume. The Wildcat's barrage of shots on goal made securing a victory for Cobleskill nearly impossible. SUNY Poly put 39 shots on goal and took 55 total shots. Six Wildcats had multiple-point performances in the game, which ended 17-5. Before the game, the Wildcats honored the five seniors from this year's team; Edward Rosaschi, Robert Pollock, Tyler Schmitz, Blaine Benner, and Jason Crandall. GAME NOTES: Edward Rosaschi netted his100th goal of his career in the game. He had a big day, scoring a game-high six points on six goals. He also forced a turnover and had four groundballs. Amelio Ripa had a career-best five points for the Wildcats. The New Hartford native scored four goals and had an assist. Tyler Schmitz had a game-high three caused turnovers and three groundballs. Matthew Johnson extended his win streak in goal to six. He made one save in 30 minutes of play. Jackson Murphy had four points for the Wildcats. He scored two goals and had two assists. Sultan Taj and Matt Fisher each had three points on a goal and two assists. Andrew Maycock had two points with a goal and an assist. Steven Sullivan had a team-high six groundballs and two caused turnovers for the Wildcats. Cobleskill's Sean McMahon was credited with the loss in goal. He made 22 saves. Giovanni Bevaqua was the only player with multiple points for the Fighting Tigers. He had two goals and an assist. UP NEXT: The Wildcats will play their second game of the season against Cobleskill on Saturday, April 24th. The game will be in Cobleskill and is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
