The Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team recorded its 22nd consecutive regular-season ODAC victory with a 20-5 win over Guilford on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field. The Generals' conference win streak now spans four seasons dating back to April of 2017. W&L also improved to 33-0 all-time against the Quakers. The Blue & White (3-3, 1-0) scored just 21 seconds into the game when junior attackman Stuart Greenspon (Aldie, Va. / Episcopal) found the net with an unassisted tally. Guilford (5-2, 0-1) senior attackman Connor Sweeney made it 3-1 when he scored unassisted at 9:25, but the Generals scored seven times in the final 8:12, including three goals by junior midfielder Ben Mulholland (Sewickley, Pa. / Sewickley Academy), for a 9-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. W&L continued to pour it on in the second quarter, winning all 10 faceoffs in the period and scoring nine more times en route to an 18-1 lead at the intermission. Eight different players scored in the second quarter led by sophomore attackman Spencer Kriss (Versailles, Ky. / Lexington Catholic), who notched a pair of goals. Senior midfielder Hudson Hamill (Darien, Conn. / Darien) totaled three assists in the quarter, becoming just the seventh player to surpass 100 career assists. Washington and Lee cleared the bench in the second half in cruising to its third win of the 2020 season. The Generals finished with a 51-26 advantage in shots and a 53-21 margin for ground balls. W&L also won 27-of-29 faceoffs in the contest. Greenspon and Mulholland scored three goals each, while junior attackman Taylor Witherell (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) and senior midfielder Jack Ware (Baltimore, Md. / Towson) posted two goals and one assist each. Kriss scored two goals, while Hamill finished with one goal and five assists. He now has 104 career assists, just five assists from overtaking Matt Dugan '01 for sixth on the W&L all-time list. Kriss finished with two goals and senior midfielder Jack Hodgson (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's) was a perfect 14-for-14 on faceoffs. Four different goalkeepers played for the Generals, registering seven saves. Junior Jack Taylor (Baltimore, Md. / Saint Paul's) started and earned the win after making three saves with one goal allowed in 30 minutes of action. Junior midfielder Bailey Benjamin scored a team-best two goals for the Quakers. Senior attackman Derek Zacatenco added one goal and one assist. Senior Jack Rogers played all 60 minutes between the pipes, recording 18 saves. Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday evening, hosting 12th-ranked Gettysburg for a 5:00 pm contest.
