The University of New England men's lacrosse team adjusted after an early deficit to defeat Emerson, 15-5, in non-conference action at UNE Blue Bolt Field on Wednesday evening. Skyler Celotto scored three quick goals out of the gate for the Lions as the visitors took an early lead. Collin Morrow put the Nor'easters on the board in the final minute of the first quarter to make it 3-1 after 15 minutes. UNE took control from there, outscoring Emerson 14-2 the rest of the way. Garett Bozek and Alex York each scored twice as part of a five-goal spurt over the first 4:55 of the second quarter. The Lions answered with a tally by Alex Hrisanthopoulos to trim the deficit to two, but would never get closer. York added his third of the quarter to give the Nor'easters a 7-4 lead at halftime. York and Bossi each scored twice in the second half as UNE continued to pull away. Each finished with five points on the night as York had five goals while Bossi scored three times and added two assists. Bozek also added three goals and two assists. Andrew Loya had a goal and two assists along with two ground balls. Matt Thomas and Adam Race each had three caused turnovers. Jared Duff was 8-for-12 on face offs and grabbed four ground balls. Malcolm McGrath made 20 saves in the losing effort for the Lions. Kameron Bouvier had seven stops to earn his first win of the season. The Nor'easters will play their first road and Commonwealth Coast Conference game on Saturday in Newport, R.I. against Salve Regina. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
