Hannah Keating netted a career-best five goals, and Julia Glynn added five goals of her own plus three assists for an eight-point effort, but the Harvard women's lacrosse team (3-8, 0-4 Ivy League) fell to Princeton (6-4, 2-1) by a score of 20-15 Saturday afternoon at Harvard Stadium.
Olivia Gundrum stopped 12 shots in net for the Crimson.
Glynn netted Harvard's first goal off a pass from Keeley MacAfee to knot the game at the 27:26 mark, but the Tigers led, 4-1, with 20:19 left in the first half. Princeton added to its advantage, going up 6-1 by the midway mark of the frame. Keating cut the deficit to 6-2 with a tally with 16:39 remaining, and then Tessa Queri followed with a tally to make it a three-goal game at 15:09.
The Crimson kept pace with Princeton with a tally from Nicole Baiocco with an assist from Glynn at 13:01, 7-4. Glynn netted her second of the game with 10:25 to go in the half, making it a 7-5 contest. Late in the half, Keating scored her second with 5:38 remaining, and then she got the hat trick with another tally at 4:08, 10-7.
In the second half, Princeton went up, 12-7, in the opening minutes, until Keating answered with her fourth tally at 26:43. Caroline Garrity capitalized on a free-position opportunity at 21:55 to make it 13-9. With 19:27 to play, MacAfee took a pass from Baiocco and fired for a tally, 14-10.
Keating notched her fifth goal on Glynn's third assist with 17:26 remaining, 15-11, and then Glynn scored back-to-back tallies at 15:57 and 15:39 to get the Crimson within two, 15-13. Queri inched Harvard closer with an unassisted goal at 13:51, 15-14. Glynn found the back of the net again at 10:56, as the Crimson came all the way back to tie the game, 15-15.
After Princeton went back ahead, 16-15, with 7:34 to go, the Tigers added another to take a two-goal advantage with 3:28 remaining.
Game Notes:
- Julia Glynn now has 69 points on the season, the eighth-most in a season in school history.
- Glynn (48 goals) is now two goals away from joining the top 10 in program history for a single season.
- Hannah Keating's five goals set a new career-high.
