With the victory, the Blue Devils improve to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in ACC action as the Cavaliers dip to 6-2 and 2-2 in conference play. Duke was led by Katie Cronin with four goals and an assist while Gabby Rosenzweig and Maddie Jenner also reeled in three goals. Rosenzweig dished three assists in the outing. Caroline DeBellis and Olivia Carner added another two goals each while Catherine Cordrey, Catriona Barry and Olivia Rubin brought in one apiece. Katie DeSimone notched an assist as five of Duke's goals were aided. Cronin has scored at least one goal in each of Duke's eight contests this spring and owns a team-high 19. The Darien, Conn., native is shooting .792 percent this year with 19 goals on 24 shots. In goal, Sophia LeRose accumulated nine saves on 17 shots on goal, picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover. Duke was first on the board as Jenner connected for her 10th goal of the year at 27:32. The Blue Devils would go on a scoring drought for the next 11 minutes as the Cavaliers took the lead (2-1) with two goals. The Blue Devils would go on to outscore the Cavaliers 7-3 the remainder of the half and hold an 8-5 lead heading into intermission. During Duke's scoring run, the Blue Devils received goal contributions from DeBellis (2), Jenner (2), Cordrey (1), Barry (1), Rosenzweig (1) and Carner (1). Duke's defense limited Virginia's offense to 10 shots on goal as LeRose picked up five saves in the opening period. Duke would tack on three more goals in the next seven minutes from Cronin and Rubin to give them a 17-6 lead en route to its sixth victory of the season.
