The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team was defeated by no. 17/19 Lehigh in a high-scoring game, 15-10. The Crusaders and Mountain Hawks traded the lead throughout the game but a six-goal third quarter from Lehigh proved decisive. Kevin Kodzis and Will Spangenberg each picked up four points with a hat trick and one assist in the game, while Jonathan Tesoro made a season-high 15 saves. Kodzis scored in the opening 30 seconds and then less than two minutes later Jayce Lambert scored to put Holy Cross ahead, 2-0. Spangenberg and Kodzis added goals in the first quarter to take a 4-1 lead with 6:36 to play. Lehigh responded with two of its own to close the Holy Cross lead to 4-3 to end the quarter. In the second quarter, Lehigh outscored Holy Cross, 3-1, to jump ahead to a 6-5 lead at the half. Spangenberg posted his second of the day in the frame. Connor Waldron and Kodzis scored at the start of the third quarter to put Holy Cross ahead a second time before the Mountain Hawks evened things up again at 9:37, 7-7. Lambert put in his second of the day and Spangenberg completed his hat trick to give the Crusaders a 9-7 lead. With 4:44 to go in the third quarter, Lehigh's offense took off. The Mountain Hawks tallied five goals to erase the Crusader lead and take a 12-9 lead of their own. Dean DiNanno scored with 55 seconds to play in game, but Lehigh's lead was too much to overcome and the Mountain Hawks claimed the game, 15-10. CRUSADER LEADERS: Chris Conlin, Sean New, and Will Spangenberg all led with two caused turnovers each. Spangenberg and Kevin Kodzis led, each with three goals and one assist. Jayce Lambert scored twice, while Connor Waldron and Dean DiNanno picked up one goal and one assist each. Dan O'Connell went 17-27 (.629) at the faceoff and picked up eight ground balls. NOTES & NUMBERS: Lehigh outshot Holy Cross, 34-31. The Crusaders went 17-18 on the clear and held Lehigh to a 17-24 margin on the clear.
