The No. 1 Penn State men's lacrosse team took down No. 16 Johns Hopkins, 20-9, on Sunday afternoon to move to 11-1, and 4-0 in Big Ten play to earn a share of the 2019 Big Ten regular season title. Penn State saw sophomore Jack Kelly, who missed the last two games, come out on fire and recorded a career-best five points on four goals and assist. Redshirt junior Grant Ament recorded a team-best seven points, scoring a season-best four goals and added three assists. Redshirt junior Dylan Foulds added a hat trick in less than two minutes in the third quarter. He scored at the 3:51, 3:00, and 2:13 in consecutive offensive possessions. He also added an assist. Senior Nick Spillane scored two goals and dished out one assist. He added two ground balls. Freshman Jack Traynor added two goal, while Mac O'Keefe tallied two points with a goal and an assist. O'Keefe also added four ground balls and one caused turnover. The Nittany Lions also saw Nick McEvoy, Seamus Glynn, Chris Sabia and Gerard Arceri all found the back of the cage. Arceri finished the game with 17 face-off wins on 31 attempts and added 10 ground balls. Redshirt junior Tommy Wright added five ground balls, most coming on wing play. Penn State saw Sabia scoop up four ground balls and add one caused turnover, while line-mate sophomore Brayden Peck added two caused turnovers. The Nittany Lions third starting defenseman junior Nick Cardile added two ground balls and a caused turnover. The Nittany Lions got strong play from the defensive middies as well as senior Robby Black added one caused turnover and one ground ball, while McEvoy added two ground balls. Fellow short stick d-middies Brian Townsend, one caused turnover, and Bobby Burns, one ground balls, added to the impressive performance for the unit. For the LSMs, along with Wright's five ground balls, Kevin fox added one ground ball and one caused turnover. In the cage, junior Colby Kneese recorded his 11th win of the season with nine save and a .526 save percentage. In just over six minutes of action, senior Trevor Scollins recorded one save. Penn State wraps up the 2019 regular season with a 2:30 first face against Rutgers on Saturday, April 27. Penn State will honor its senior class prior to the start of the game.
