No. 10 Ursinus erased a five-goal halftime deficit to defeat No. 15 Franklin & Marshall 16-15 in overtime in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 9-4, 4-1 CC, while the Bears improved to 10-1, 4-1 CC. Luke Keating finished with six goals and two assists and became just the 14th player in program history to record 100 goals. F&M came out of the gate strong with five straight goals. Kevin Mollihan finished off a pass from Luke Keating for the first tally, before Tucker McBride made it 2-0 at 8:58. Keating netted two goals 12 seconds apart before A.J. Rigsby made it 5-0 at 5:03. The Bears answered with two of their own to end the quarter with F&M leading 5-2. Ursinus continued their run early in the second with a tally 18 ticks in and the Bears countered an F&M goal at 10:54 to come within two, 6-4, with 10:51 on the clock. The Diplomats responded with three goals, two from Keating and one from Target for 9-4 edge with a little more than five to play. The Bears netted one with 27 seconds on the clock, but F&M countered with a goal with five seconds left for a 10-5 lead at the break. Two goals from the Bears at the start of the third made it 10-7 and goals by Target, Keating and Will Demuth gave F&M a 13-9 lead heading into the final frame. The Bears did most the damage in the fourth, outscoring F&M 6-2 in the quarter. Ursinus made it a two-goal goal five minutes into the frame and after a Keating goal, the Bears netted two more to stay within striking distance, 14-13, with 6:47 left. George Briggs put the Diplomats up two at 5:43, but the Bears countered with a goal at 2:19 and netted the game-tying with just 38 seconds on the clock to send it into overtime. The Bears took advantage of a late penalty in the fourth the carried over to the extra frame, negating the faceoff and scored the game-winner 16 seconds into the period. In addition to Keating six goals and two assists, Blake Target also led the offense with four goals and one helper and George Briggs had a goal and an assist. Kevin Mollihan had one goal and an assist and Tucker McBride ended with a goal. Ellis Llewellyn had four ground balls with three caused turnovers and Tommy O'Connor caused three turnovers and had three ground balls to pace the defense. Luke Mutterer turned away 11 shots, but suffered his first loss of the year and fell to 5-1. F&M led in shots, 46-35, and went 15-of-20 in clear attempts, while the Bears had a slight 37-34 edge in ground balls. The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M travels to Washington for a 12:00 p.m. game.
