Junior Dominick Massaro (Centereach, N.Y./Sachem North) scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, but a three-goal effort in the fourth quarter lifted King's College to a 9-6 victory on Saturday, Feb. 29, at UPMC Field. Seniors Drew Collins (Victor, N.Y./Victor) and Shain Quigley (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford Area) and sophomores Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) and Blake Premo (Massena, N.Y./Massena) each scored a goal. Collins and Quigley both added assists and sophomore Justin Joseph (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) won 11 faceoffs to lead the Warrior offense. The Warriors (2-2) outshot King's, 9-7, in the final frame, but could not find the back of the net. After taking the initial lead of the game with a goal by Premo at the 12:42 mark, the Monarchs (3-0 overall) responded with three unanswered goals, two by Jared Gambino and one from Alec Martin. Zimmerman finished the first quarter with a man-up goal with seven seconds remaining. Lycoming scored twice in each the second and third quarters, as Collins and Massaro scored in the 14th and 11th minute of the second period to give the Warriors' a 4-3 advantage before King's tied the game at four on a goal by Gabe Vansuch. The teams would play even in the third quarter, with the Warriors' goals coming from Massaro and Quigley and King's getting goals from Gambino and Nolan Reape. Vansuch scored twice in the fourth quarter for a three-goal effort and Gambino netted his fourth goal with 13:39 to go in the game. Freshman goalie Cameron Kuzniar (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) had 11 saves and sophomore Michael Turck (Homer, N.Y./Homer) made one stop. The Monarchs' Jackson Campbell stopped 13 shots in the win. Joseph led the team with seven groundballs. Zimmerman caused three turnovers and grabbed two groundballs and senior Sam Pollock (Wrightsville, Pa./Eastern York) posted three groundballs and added two caused turnovers. Jackson Campbell and Sam Moyer each had five groundballs for the Monarchs. The Warriors are back in action next when they head to 10th-ranked York College on Sunday, March 8, for a 1 p.m. game.
