After starting their season on a three-game road trip, MSOE lacrosse hit the turf at Viets Field to open up not only their home slate, but MLC play as well. The Raiders put on a clinic against the Rams of North Central (Minn.), scoring 28 goals and entering the record books several times along the way. RESULT North Central (Minn.) – 2 MSOE – 28 HOW IT HAPPENED When you're up by six goals and not even five minutes have elapsed on the game clock, you know that things are going pretty alright for you. That's the situation that MSOE (3-1, 1-0 MLC) found themselves in during this afternoon's game against North Central (Minn.) (0-2, 0-1 MLC). The Raiders scored almost a goal a minute in the first quarter, walking away with a total of 14 before the first horn sounded. From there the game evolved into almost a live scrimmage. Head Coach Sean Farrell was able to get everyone some playing time and used a new goalie for each quarter. A shutout was not to be however as the Rams scored twice in the last 15, but the outcome of this contest was never in doubt. The Red & White win their first conference game of the year by 26 goals. RAIDER RECORDS The following records were either broken, tied, or entered into the top five in single game program history: Jerred Willhelm scored the third fastest goal to start a game (0:08) Most goals scored as a team ever in a game (28) Tied for most total points in a single game (46) Tied for fourth most shots taken in a single game (63) Ranks second in regard to fastest four-straight goals scored (1:25) MSOE STAT TRACKER Goals – Max Jenney (5) Assists – Liam Brown Shots – Liam Brown (9) Ground Balls – John Kubicki (8) Caused Turnovers – Justin Koch (3) Saves – Colin Hall & Sean Finneran (1) WHO'S ON DECK The Raiders will wrap up the quick two game home stand when they welcome Concordia Wisconsin to Viets Field on Wednesday. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm. For up-to-the-minute MSOE Raiders news, visit us at www.go-raiders.com.
