CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Top-seeded Boston College cruised to a 15-4 victory over vs. #8 Louisville in the opening round of the 2019 ACC Championship, held at Alumni Stadium. The Eagles featured nine different goal-scorers as Cara Urbank and Jordan Lappin led with three apiece. Juniors Sheila Rietano and Kate Taylor each added two goals as freshman Jenn Medjid made her first-career start. Classmate Caitlyn Mossman tallied her first career point with a goal to end the contest and sophomore goalkeeper Abbey Ngai posted 13 saves on the day en-route to a first-half shutout. Urbank got the scoring started 1:11 into the contest, taking a Dempsey Arsenault pass from behind the net, scoring point blank on Cardinals' goalkeeper Rachel Florek. Brooke Troy made it 2-0 for the #1 ranked Eagles, going 1-v-1 to beat Florek on the right side at the 25:47 mark. BC made it 3-0 with 16:19 remaining in the opening half, as Rietano came around the right side of the scoring area, redirecting her shot to the left corner. The Eagles tacked another one onto the board 45 seconds later, as Lappin took the attack right down the middle for the goal. Lappin struck again with 12:11 to go in the half, going right-to-left, with a bouncing shot to the lower left corner of the goal. Sam Apuzzo found the back of the net with 8:33 to play, taking a pass from behind the net from Arsenault on the left side and scoring on the right. With 2:50 remaining in the first half, Taylor Walker beat the shot clock, scoring from the left side of the 8-meter line to the lower right of the goal. Lappin finished the first half hat trick with a score off a free position shot with 1:48 to play in the period. The sophomore took two strides into the scoring area before converting. Apuzzo caught her own rebound off the post as time expired, and BC would lead, 8-0, at the break. Louisville scored the first two goals of the second half before Urbank registered her second goal of the afternoon, again from the stick of Arsenault, which made it 9-2. With 19:02 remaining, Apuzzo was whistled for a yellow card. But the Eagles converted on the man-down situation, as Medjid took an entry pass from Arsenault into the scoring area with 17:45 to go in regulation. After another Louisville goal with 16:36 to play, BC's Kate Taylor scored a free-position goal with 11:46, making it 11-3. The Cardinals struck again with 6:00 to go, before BC sealed the win with four unanswered goals, including Urbank's third goal with just over four minutes to play. The final tally of the game came off the stick of Mossman - her first goal of her career. The Eagles move to 6-1 all-time vs. the Cardinals, including five straight victories. BC downed UofL, 19-6, during the regular season finale on April 20 in Alumni Stadium. Jordan Lappin tallied her third career hat trick in the first half. Cara Urbank notched a hat trick as well. Apuzzo has scored at least one goal in 73 of her 74 career games played. She has 98 points so far in 2019. Arsenault has recorded at least one point in 44 consecutive contests for the Eagles. BC is outscoring their opponents 314-170 this season. Abbey Ngai moves to 13-0 on the season. Today's 11-goal margin of victory marks the eighth double-digit victory of the year. The win marks head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein's 109th win at the helm of the program. She became just the first head coach in program history to record 100 wins over her career earlier this season in a win over Georgetown.
