– Brody Wilson made his first start of the 2018 season a memorable one. The Yale goalie made 10 saves, including multiple momentum-saving stops, in an 11-8 win over Bryant, the third straight win for the No. 11 Elis. Bryant (2-4) had a 38-30 edge in shots and Wilson was tested in his first action since last spring. Yale (3-1), which trailed only by a goal early in the contest, broke the game open with a four-goal run in the second half. Senior attackman Ben Reeves led the Blue with 4 goals on 6 shots. He was one of 6 Elis to hit the net, including two each from Jackson Morrill and Matt Gaudet. Wilson was the primary reason the home team didn't score until late in the first quarter. The sophomore netminder turned aside a few quality attempts early on and then finished the half with 6 saves on 8 shots on target. Twenty-three shots were fired his way over the first 30 minutes, and Wilson allowed just a pair of tallies. He made a fantastic save on a point-blank shot by Marc O'Rourke with 2 seconds left in the first half to preserve a one-goal lead. Yale opened the scoring with 2:09 left in the first on a Will Cabrera to Gaudet connection. Bryant answered quickly with a pair before Reeves flashed his brilliance and gave the visitors the lead again. The senior All-American converted a catch-and-shoot, lefty laser top shelf and then won a ground ball after a Bryant faceoff win and bounced a shot past Kevin Beimfohr (11 saves). That was two goals in 13 seconds for the two-time Tewaaraton Award Finalist. Lucas Cotler made it 3 goals in 4 minutes when he ran out from behind the net on the left side. He reached back and fired high for a 4-2 lead. His squad took a 4-3 lead into halftime, and the game was tight until the Yale offensive burst that began late in the third. Reeves, who leads Yale with 14 goals and 24 points, notched his third of the day at 4:52 of the third with a shot between the goalie's legs to make it 6-5. Later, Tyler Warner went low stick side on the Bryant goalie for a 7-6 Eli lead. The home team had a great chance to even things and grab some momentum heading to the final quarter, but Wilson's huge leg save on a shot from close range preserved the lead and allowed the Blue to go on the run.
