After taking down the No. 12 Maryville Saints (5-2, 5-2 GLVC) in a road contest on Wednesday, the No. 14 UIndy men's lacrosse team (7-1, 7-1 GLVC) faced off against the Saints for a second time this week on Saturday, this time at Key Stadium. The game was right down to the last 10 seconds of action, but Austin Barnett's action in the other 59 minutes and 50 seconds garnered a new program record with 20 saves, only allowing eight goals. INS & OUTS The Saints got off to a hot start in the contest, scoring the game's first three goals. It didn't take the Greyhounds long to answer, as four different student-athletes would slam five unanswered goals in the back of the net through the second quarter to put the Hounds ahead in the game. After a tightly-contested first half score of 5-4, in favor of UIndy, Drew Billig owning a pair of scores and held an assist to his name. The Saints would dominate the second half in the face-off, claiming all 10 meetings in the back 30 minutes. This would lead to the Saints' 24 shots in the back half of the contest, Barnett collecting 14 saves and only allowing four goals. After Maryville snagged two-straight goals by Jake Foster in the final five minutes of the game, the tie game would slowly wind down little by little. From the Saint's eighth score, the UIndy defense would go on lockdown for the rest of the contest. Jack Belobrajdic would caused a turnover after the Saints won a face-off, Barnett collected his 20th save of the game, Kyle Basch taking a ground ball. The Greyhounds would take four shots at the goal in the final five minutes, but the one shot by Brian Robb would make all the difference. After Wyatt Auyer tossed the ball across the field for another look, Robb caught the pass and immediately sent it about 15 yards from the net. The shot buried low, it would zip past the goalkeeper with 7.5 seconds left in the contest to be the final goal of the game.
