The Cabrini men's lacrosse team suffered its second consecutive loss after opening the season with seven consecutive wins, as the No. 7 Cavaliers fell to No. 1 Salisbury 13-5 at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Blue and White built an early lead, as seniors Bill Morgan and Jordan Krug tallied man-up goals to give Cabrini a 2-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Sea Gulls rallied with two goals late in the period and two to open the second to build a 4-2 cushion. Junior Tyler Kostack snapped Salisbury's 4-0 spurt with an unassisted tally with 5:17 left before the half, but the visitors regained their two goal cushion three minutes later and carried the 5-3 lead into the halftime break. Salisbury pushed its lead to 6-3 midway through the third before Krug notched his second goal of the evening, pulling the Cavaliers back to within 6-4 with 6:25 left in the period. Two minutes later, the Sea Gulls tallied two goals in a nine second span to close the third quarter with a more comfortable 8-4 lead. Cabrini was forced to push its defense further out in the final period and Salisbury took advantage, outscoring the home team 5-1 in the final 15 minutes. Salisbury outshot the Cavaliers 35-30 on the night, and held a slim 18-16 advantage in shots on goal. The 30 shots represented a season low for the Cavaliers, as did their 16 shots on goal, 19 ground balls and nine turnovers. Krug finished the night with three goals, while Kostack matched his three points, pairing a goal and two helpers. Senior goaltender Riley White paired five saves and five ground balls, while sophomore Luke McCallion went 11-20 at the X and scooped three ground balls. Senior Nick Vass joined junior Robert Cressman and sophomore Kyle Myers with two ground balls each. Junior Josh Melton led Salisbury (10-0) with four goals and two assists, while senior Zach Pompea paired a goal and four helpers. Junior goaltender Brandon Warren earned the victory after posting 11 saves. The Cavaliers will turn their attention to Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday, when they visit Gwynedd Mercy University (5-3). The conference opener for both clubs will begin at 12pm.
