FINAL SCORE Saint Joseph's (4-1) 10 Monmouth (2-3) 3 WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Saint Joseph's used a big second half to defeat the Monmouth University men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium. Through the first 30 minutes, Saint Joseph's held a 3-2 lead, but scored seven of the final eight goals to put the game away. Saint Joseph's excelled at the faceoff X, with Zach Cole winning 14-of-16 in the game. Offensively, Zach Clemente, Mike McIntyre and Brock Anderson scored for Monmouth. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-3 on the season. NOTES & QUOTES "Saint Joseph's has a very good faceoff man, who is among the best in the country. Our guys are good, too, but they are young and they will continue to battle there and get better. We have some room to grow and we have some things to figure out offensively, handle the ball a little better, things like that, but we will make some strides this week and be ready for another strong opponent in Mercer." - Head Coach Brian Fisher "I thought we played well in the first half and we were right with them at halftime. They are a tough team and are going to play a full 60 minutes every time. We kind of let it get away from us there in the third quarter with some penalties and they have a very good faceoff guy who played well today." - Junior Captain Chris Hervada - Saint Joseph's entered the game ranked #20 in the US Lacrosse Magazine Poll. - Saint Joseph's leads the all-time series against Monmouth, 7-0. - The Hawks fell to 11-11 all-time against current NEC opponents. - The Hawks wore their blue chrome helmets with white jerseys and shorts. NUMBERS CRUNCH - Brock Anderson netted his team-leading seventh goal of 2020. Anderson now has 21 career goals. - Mike McIntyre scored his fifth goal of the season. - Zach Clemente scored his second goal of the year and the 28th of his career. - Dillon Smart led the Hawks with four caused turnovers. - Cade Stratton and James Lisignoli each added two caused turnovers. - Eamon Campbell picked up a season-high four ground balls. - Noah Lode made 13 saves in goal for Monmouth.
