WEST POINT, N.Y. – After coming out to a hot 3-0 start, the #15/20 Army West Point men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-7 decision to #18/RV Bucknell on Saturday. Jeremy Angle and David Symmes posted two goals apiece to lead the Black Knights in the game. Ted Glesener and Nate Jones each had two helpers in the game. HIGHLIGHTS & GAME NOTES Jones led the team with three points on a goal and two assists today. Long-stick midfielders Jon LaMonica and Danny DeSanti scored for Army in the game. It was LaMonica's first-career goal and DeSanti's second of the year. Connor DeWitt and Conor Glancy aided in goals today. Johnny Surdick, John Ragno and LaMonica each had two caused turnovers. LaMonica led the team with six groundballs, while Surdick added five and Jones three. AJ Barretto recorded 10 saves for Army and tallied a groundball. Three Black Knights reached the 100-career groundball mark. LaMonica, Surdick and Barretto eclipsed the milestone in the mix. Jones is now one point shy of the 100-career points mark with 99. TURNING POINT Bucknell went on a 7-2 run between the second and third quarter to take the lead in the game. HOW IT HAPPENED The Black Knights jumped out to a three goal lead to start the game. Symmes snapped his scoreless streak with an unassisted goal after muscling his way through traffic 3:30 into the action. Then with 38 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Glesener connected with Angle in front for the second of the contest. At the 13:28 mark of the second quarter, Jones scored off an assist from DeWitt to pad the Black Knights' lead to three. Bucknell went on to net the next four goals to take a lead 4-3 with 9:07 remaining in the first half. LaMonica scored his first-career goal on a slow break after controlling the faceoff. He dished it off to Jones and turned back for a cut towards the goal and the pair connected for the score. The Bison netted back-to-back goals to reclaim the lead, but Glesener found Symmes on the wing for his second of the day. This sparked a two-goal run by Army as Angle netted his second of the day with 14:14 left in the game. Glancy passed the ball from behind the cage and Angle weaved through the middle for the goal. Bucknell then went on a 3-0 run to put the game out of reach for Army. DeSanti scored the final goal of the game with 16 seconds remaining hoping to spark a comeback. Army won the faceoff and Jones fed it down to the long-stick midfielder for the goal. UP NEXT Army hits the road to take on Boston next Saturday. The game will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network with the start time slated for 3:15 p.m.
