VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton Men's lacrosse team (2-1) topped Hobart (2-2) 12-6 at the Bearcats Sports Complex on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Tyler Deluca led the offense with three goals and Tanner Cosens made 13 saves in the net. "It was our goal to be able to come out strong but also maintain that throughout the game," said coach Kevin McKeown. "I thought we were able to do that throughout the first half. Austin Macchi had a great week of practice and it really carried over to the faceoff X today. He did a great job for us. Offensively and defensively we did a great job of managing the game against a good team." Griffin Konen scored the first goal of the game for the Bearcats 1 8:34 on an assist from Thomas McAndrew before Hobart answered at 5:05 left in the first period. Binghamton then went on to score four straight goals. Tyler Deluca netted his first goal of the game with 3:43 remaining, Sean Gilroy scored at 2:58 on an assist from Liam Reaume, Joe Licata scored his first goal of the season with 54 seconds remaining and Griffin Konen topped off the period netting a goal with 18 seconds left on a Sean Gilroy assist. Binghamton held Hobart to one goal in the second period and added five goals of their own. Sean Gilroy kicked off the scoring with 11:57 remaining in the half. Stephen Petrelli netted an unassisted goal at 7:13 before the Statesmen scored their second goal of the game at 5:26. Deluca recorded his second goal of the game with four minutes remaining and Reaume ended the period with an unassisted goal at 48 seconds. The Bearcats scored a man-up goal to kick off the second half but were then held scoreless for the remainder of the period. Deluca scored his third goal of the game at 12:43. The Statesmen then went on a three goal run making the score 11-5 after three periods of play. In the final period, Hobart scored their sixth goal with 10:35 remaining. Tom Moore sealed the game for the Bearcats scoring his first goal of the game and the 12th goal for Binghamton. Moore's goal with 9:24 remaining was assisted by Thomas McAndrew. The Bearcats had the shot advantage 37-33 and the faceoff advantage 14-8. Binghamton also picked up 24 ground balls as a team. Austin Macchi took every faceoff for Binghamton today.
