Junior attackman Ryan Doran scooped up a loose ball in front of the cage and buried the game-winning goal just 55 seconds into overtime to send the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse squad past Mount St. Mary's, 14-13, in Northeast Conference action on Sweeney Field on Saturday afternoon. With their fourth consecutive victory, the Hawks improve to 4-3 overall (4-0 NEC) while the Mountaineers fall to 1-7 overall (0-3 NEC). "I saw the ball pop out of the goalkeeper's stick, and it fumbled around a bit and just found my stick," said Doran, who was swarmed by his teammates following the goal. "I just put it away. It's a great team win, and it feels awesome to be 4-0 in the league." Doran and sophomore attackman Matt Bohmer finished the day with hat tricks while senior attackman Matt Tufano turned in a team-high four points on a goal and three assists. Junior face-off specialist Zach Cole went 20-for-31 from the X with 14 ground balls while senior goalkeeper Tucker Almany (4-0, 4-0 NEC) made nine saves and came up with two key caused turnovers in the full 60:55.
