Chestnut Hill College men's lacrosse broke its single-game scoring record once again and set the program record for margin of victory with a 29-4 win over Alderson Broaddus University. The Griffins (4-1) used an eight-goal outing from junior attackman Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) – who surpassed the 100-goal-mark in his career with his sixth goal of the game -- and an eight-point day (six goals, two assists) from junior attackman J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) to help surpass the team's scoring record prior to this season for the third time in five games. Rees and Howell each had hat tricks by the end of the first quarter, pushing the Griffins out to a 12-2 lead after the first 15 minutes. Howell played a role in four of the Scarlet and Gold's seven goals in the second period, scoring three and assisting on one. The Griffins did not concede in the period, heading into halftime with a 19-2 lead. Chestnut Hill College kept its foot on the pedal in the second half, with junior midfielder Austin Philistine (Rising Sun, Md.) completing his hat trick with two goals after the break to match his season-high three goals from the opener. 10 Griffins scored goals in the outing. Three Griffins registered minutes in goal. Sophomore Jake Miller (Castle Rock, Colo.) played the first half, conceding just twice and making four saves. Sophomore Austin Jones (Courtice, Ontario) and senior Mike Trezza (Forked River, N.J.) also saw action, with the former making three saves and the latter taylling two saves while keeping the Battlers off the board. Junior faceoff specialist Stephen Lopuzzo (Ringoes, N.J.) was dominant once again, winning 16-of-21 faceoffs. Chestnut Hill College returns home for a game against Molloy College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.
