The Tars could not overcome a hot goal keeper, as their upset bid of No. 5 Belmont Abbey fell short. The Crusader topped Rollins 8-3. The No. 18 Tars fall to 2-2 overall. Belmont Abbey stays unbeaten at 6-0. Peyton Miller, Bailey Pringle, and Colin Hall each netted one goal for Rollins. Miller also tallied the Tars' only assist of the game. Justin Isenhour caused a game high five turnovers, and picked up one ground ball to lead the defensive unit. Cam Reeves went 8-14 at the faceoff dot, and picked up five ground balls. Cody Iserman made eight saves in net for Rollins, playing the full 60 minutes. Noah Haas scored a hat-trick for Belmont Abbey to lead all scorers. Sean Hanrahan added a pair of assists. Brady Smith picked up three ground balls. Bryce Gilford saved the day for the Crusaders, making 23 stops in cage, while facing 26 shots on target. The Crusaders jumped on top 3-1 after the first quarter. Rollins lone tally came with the extra man, Miller finding Pringle for the score. Each team netted just one goal apiece in the second. Miller scored to bring the Tars within a goal, but Haas stretched the lead back to two before the whistle blew for halftime. The Crusaders registered the first two goals of the second half, stretching their lead to four. Hall would find the back of the net for Rollins, late in the quarter to cut the deficit to three heading into the fourth. The Tars pushed in the final 15 minutes, but could not cut into the Crusader's lead. Belmont Abbey would tally twice more, against the run of play to take an 8-3 lead, which they would see out through the final whistle. Notes: The Tars are 1-7 all-time against the Crusaders, in a series that has seen four overtime games. Rollins dominated the stat sheet. The Tars only turned the ball over seven times, against Belmont Abbey's 20. Rollins won eight of 15 faceoffs. The Tars took 47 shots, to the Crusaders 29. Rollins picked up 25 groundballs, while Belmont Abbey scooped up 10. Rollins cleared the ball on all 14 of their clear attempts.
