The nationally ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks (5-0, 2-0 RMAC) continue their undefeated start to the season after sweeping Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents this weekend. The Mavericks concluded their opening RMAC weekend today against CSU-Pueblo (0-2, 0-2 RMAC), defeating them 22-11 Sunday afternoon at Walker Field. For the fourth time this season the Mavs were led by graduate transfer James Booth who recorded a game high seven points, which included two goals and tied a career high five assists. The Shirley, N.Y. native has now recorded five assists and two goals in the previous three games. As the Mavs' main face off guy, Cole Emmanuel was 19-of-20 on face offs and picked up a game high 16 ground balls while recording one goal and one assists. AJ Switzer led the team in goals with four, which is a career high for the freshman from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. He added one assists to his career day and took a team high nine shots which was also a career high. Switzer has recorded a team high 11 goals this season. Jed Brummett was the Mavs next best scorer with three goals and one assist. Remi Reeves and Christian Cherry shared time in the net with Reeves earning the win. The Telford, PA., native recorded eight saves while only allowing five goals in 41 minutes. The Mavs began the game on a 4-0 run with three goals being assisted before CSU-Pueblo scored the next four out of five goals to get with in one of the Mavs just before the end of the first quarter. Hayden Scheer recorded a goal with ten second to spar to give the Mavericks a 6-4 lead entering the second quarter. From then on the Mavericks recorded six consecutive goals that lasted until the third quarter when CSU-Pueblo scored a man-up goal at the 7:23 mark. By that time the Mavs held a 12-5 lead and went on to score the next six goals to take a 18-5 lead with under two minutes to play in the third quarter. Two of those goal were man up for the Mavs. The ThunderWolves scored the final goal of the quarter, 18-6. They went on to outscored the Mavericks five to four in the final quarter before the scored settled at 22-11. Up Next The Mavericks will travel to Pueblo, Colo. on March 5 for a neutral site game against Davenport University at 4 pm.
